Baby Shower

I finally got the pictures from Jeff this morning! I know most of you were there, but I wanted to share some anyway. The theme was Take Me Out to the Ball Game, very appropriate for Jeff and me. My mom and sisters completely outdid themselves! And I think it is fair to say that everyone had a good time.

The menu was Fenway Franks, Clam Chowdah, and Loaded Nachos. Then of course, for dessert, the baseball cupcakes complete with licorice lacing - yes, they were mildly crazed. I have to imagine that the lacing took near as long as baking the cupcakes! But they sure were yummy!

For games, you got to guess which candy bar was melted inside the diaper. It looked pretty much like the real thing... gross!! And then there was the catcher, that Tracey and Dad made.

And finally - just a shot of Jeff and me. I am 28 weeks and 5 days here! He is pretending he will be in that position at the birth, but this is the guy who gets queasy from a blood draw. Shh! Don't tell that I told :)

Sorry everyone! We have been traveling, so I have slacked on the blog. We were in Germany during the second week of last month. Jeff worked, worked, worked... but I got to play. It was pretty chilly there around 4 degrees celcius. But it is always a great trip. We stay in a very nice Bed and Breakfast, where we are now friends of the owners.

We had a GREAT rental car. It was a BMW 3 series with something called the I-knob. It controlled the climate, radio, navigation and connection to your cell. Definitely state of the art!

Here is a shot of a wind turbine from the sunroof of our car. Scary how close they are to the road, huh? Now you know why Jeff has to keep an eye on failures! You wouldn't want those blades falling onto a passing car!

One of Jeff in the kegel bowling lane at the Lucke Hotel. Kegel is sort of a combo between bowling and skeeball. There are 9 pins and they are on marionette strings. You bowl with a holeless, small ball and the lane is hourglass. Very fun, but unfortunately, my center of gravity is a bit off these days, so I wasn't able to play!Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

And finally, me at 27 weeks and 3 days in our room.Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I will post more later in the week. As soon as Jeff gets home from Greenville, I can get the shower pictures. Take care all!

Happy Halloween!

Last night was Guy's annual Halloween party. As you can tell from the picture, Jeff and I picked our normal politically correct costume :). I hate that you can't see my whole outfit - complete with knee socks and Mary Janes (courtesy of Heather). I felt like I was channeling Brittany Spears in that video - was it Oops I did it Again?

Father Bergman obviously had to be watched as he tried to purchase more alcohol from Wanda's Tavern. Don't you just love this costume?!

Hope everyone has a great Halloween on Wednesday!

New Pictures

Well, I finally got around to scanning the new photos of our boy. Sorry for the quality. Unfortunately, the 2D ultrasound pictures aren't near as nice as those from the 4D.
Little Bergie has been very active lately. Yesterday, I think he may have been doing the conga while I sat through a business meeting. Apparently he wasn't interested in the topic :). Enjoy!

Ta Dah! The Nursery

It isn't quite complete. I am sure that will be tinkering with it for all the months leading up to Bergie's birth, but here is the progress so far.

We decided to make good use of the twin bed and put it in his room. I still want to get some big pillows to throw on it, but all in good time.

That is little Bergie's first Red Sox outfit lying on the changing pad!

And the shining star - the crib! I think the bumper and skirt came out great. I still have some more ties to add to the bumper, but I have a few months.

Basement Bedroom

For all intents and purposes, the basement bedroom is complete. There will be some punchlist items to take care of I am sure, but it at least looks like a finished product. Please excuse the water spots on the pictures. I guess that my camera needs cleaned... OOPS!

Happy Anniversary Steph and Joe!!

It has been 3 years!! Woo hoo! Congratulations, you two!

Let's Go Mountaineers!

Let's hope this picture doesn't jinx the Mountaineers tonight against USF. I finally got Jeff to take a picture of the growing Buddha. Enjoy!

One More Night!

Jeff comes home tomorrow! The cats will be very pleased. I am afraid that they like it much better when he is at home because I tend to sit still longer :).

I have been diligently working on the nursery parts. I have the crib bumper nearly done. A friend had given me their old bumper, so all I had to do was recover it, which was a heck of a lot easier than the pattern wanted me to do. The only problem was that she must have had what is termed a "mini-crib" because it would have been too short for our crib. So today, I have to go get more padding, and it will be complete!

I also started the crib skirt and curtains last night. The crib skirt is going very smoothly - so far. I would like to have it done in time for the crib to be set up this weekend. That way, we won't have to remove the mattress after it is place to put the skirt in. The curtains are another story. We have a double window in the nursery. I really can't do 2 separate shades because they share a center framing member. Making the shade to span the whole width of both is a little bit of a chore, but I am sure I will figure it out. I have a co-worker who is going to help me translate the pattern this afternoon. Wish me luck!

Speaking of luck - the magic number for the Red Sox is now at 2! Root for those Damn Yankees to lose! Of course, Sox still need to win. The division title sure would be nice!

September 24th

Jeff is away this week at New Manager Development Training. We are both very excited that he finally got in, since he has been managing for over 1 year without it! He wouldn't move the bed to the basement before he left, although the room is ready. I think he was secretly afraid that I might put the crib together without him. He knows me too well :).

In order to fill my time, I thought that I would go take a look at fabric. I wasn't planning to buy anything. I just wanted to see if there was something to match the colors that I would like to paint. However, the fabrics that I was wanting to use were on clearance and then half off that!! What luck! So, I picked up the fabric for the crib skirt, the curtains and the bumpers. I am steering clear of making sheets and a quilt. From what I read, you really aren't supposed to use a quilt anyway.

The general colors are below. I am using the spotted fabric on the curtains (as shown) and the crib skirt. And for the bumper, I will be using the fabric they used on the quilt.

First Attempt...

Since all of our family is at a distance, I thought this might be a nice way to share the changes going on here in GA. Please feel free to leave comments for us.

Here is the latest and greatest on the growing Bergman family. I am now at 19 1/2 weeks along in the pregnancy. This picture was at 14W and 5 days. We get to see the wonder again in 2 weeks, so we are very excited. As he continues to grow, so does dear old mommy :). Luckily, it seems to be all belly so far. I will have to have Jeff take some pictures for you to see.

In the meantime, we have been diligently working on a basement bedroom. We didn't want to lose visitor space because of the nursery. The carpet goes in tomorrow!! Then, all we have left is doors, trim and touch up. I am sure there will be more that we will think of, but this is a huge start. We have only been working on it for maybe 1 month! With that room finished, we can concentrate on the baby's room.

I have some ideas for the room, but nothing definite yet. The only solid thing is the furniture that we are going to use. We decided to go with the walnut bedroom suite that we already have, so I found a crib in the same wood tone to match. I am picking it up tomorrow. I know it is early, but from what I read, if they have it in stock... get it. You don't want to have to deal with shipping or delays.

Talk with you all soon! Love - Susan
